Mary has always had an interest in textiles and now weaves very fine scarves using natural fibres - silks, linens, cashmeres and wools. She keeps her designs fairly simple, thus allowing the beauty of the fibre to show through.
Mary very much likes texture, and sometimes uses beads in her work to enhance a design by adding them to fringes.
Silk is a wonderful fibre to work with and to wear - Mary just loves it.
The inspiration for Mary's work often comes from the surrounding countryside and the sea. She really enjoys weaving as its gives her great satisfaction, with a sense of self expression.
A piece of Mary's work was exhibited in a major exhibition by the Spinners, Weavers and Dyers Association, which toured the U. K. She has also exhibited in galleries in Arundel, Lewes, Chichester and London.
