Welcome to the first news letter of the Whiteley Art Society. It has been a fantastic start for us, with membership rising to 102 already! We are all very excited by the overwhelming, positive response to the setting up of the Art Society. I am sure everyone is looking forward to meeting others and painting together.

Due to the large response we have decided to change the venue for our meetings from the Meadowside centre to the Whiteley Primary School Hall, Yew Tree Drive . It is a much bigger room with plenty of chairs and tables. The meetings will still be held on the second Monday of the Month. The time has changed to 7.OOpm - 9.OOpm .

The coloured pencil workshop with Jenny Kennish has been a complete sell out! (Hardly surprising!) Jenny has kindly agreed to tutor another workshop on Saturday 17 th June 2006. Forms for this workshop will be sent to all members. Places will be given on a first come first served basis.

We have booked the coach for our trip to the N.E.C for the Arts and Crafts Exhibition on Saturday 11 th November 2006, the booking forms will again be sent to all members nearer the date. It would really help us to have an idea of how many members would be interested in this trip just in case we need to hire another conch! Please could you let Linda Wickham know if you would like to come.

Finally, a reminder of our next meeting, Monday 8 th May. We welcome Tony Mercier to the Art Society. Tony will be painting Landscapes in Acrylic.
